About MiiN Labs

We exist because good AI research
rarely ships. And shipped AI
rarely goes deep enough.

MiiN Labs is an independent applied AI research lab based in Vietnam — built to close the gap between research that stays in papers and deployment that stays shallow.

What We Believe

Four principles that guide everything.

These aren't values on a wall. They are the specific beliefs that shaped how MiiN Labs was built — and what makes it different.

AI should understand, not just respond.

The gap between what users say and what they mean is where most AI fails. Closing that gap is the problem we work on.

Research without deployment is incomplete.

A finding that stays in a paper does not change the world. We build the bridge from insight to production.

Open collaboration produces better science.

We share what we learn. University partners, enterprise clients, and the broader community all make our work stronger.

APAC deserves its own AI research.

Southeast Asian users behave differently. Assuming Western or Chinese models apply is a shortcut that costs accuracy.

Our Story

Why MiiN Labs exists.

The problem was specific. The gap was real. This is how MiiN Labs came to be.

The Problem

Good AI research rarely ships.

Most AI systems are built to process inputs and return outputs. The behavioral depth that makes AI genuinely useful — understanding why people do what they do — stays in academic papers.

The Gap

Shipped AI rarely goes deep enough.

APAC digital adoption is accelerating faster than AI research can keep up. Behavioral patterns in Southeast Asia are distinct enough to require dedicated study — not borrowed assumptions from Western or Chinese models.

The Lab

MiiN Labs is founded in Vietnam.

An independent applied AI research lab built around the belief that the next frontier in AI is not capability — it is understanding. We operate as an open innovation hub, connecting research with real enterprise problems.

Now

Forming founding partnerships.

We are pre-launch and actively forming our founding university and enterprise partnerships. If you are building something worth studying — we want to work with you.

Our Team

The people behind MiiN Labs

MiiN Labs was built around a simple conviction: that the people who design AI research and the people who deploy AI in organizations should be in the same room. Our founding team brings both sides together — five researchers who hold academic positions at five leading institutions in Southern Vietnam, working full-time inside the lab.

TH

Dr. Tai Huynh

Founder & Director

Tai spent 25 years building AI into enterprise systems across APAC and Europe before founding MiiN Labs. His PhD in data science is the reason the lab exists — he kept seeing the gap between rigorous research and practical deployment, and decided to build the organization that closes it. He also founded Kyanon Digital, a ~300-person technology consultancy across Vietnam and Singapore, which gives MiiN Labs a direct connection to the enterprise problems worth solving.

Assoc. Prof. Nguyễn Đình Hiền

Co-Director, Research Lab

Associate Professor, UIT, VNU-HCM

With over 1,300 citations and visiting research positions at Wakayama University in Japan and New Mexico State University in the US, Hien is one of Vietnam’s most recognized AI researchers. His work in knowledge engineering and automated reasoning sits at the core of MiiN Labs’ research agenda. He joined MiiN Labs not as an advisor — but to build from the inside.

NT

Assoc. Prof. Nguyễn Thanh Bình

Co-Director, Research Lab

Associate Professor, HCMUS, VNU-HCM · AISIA Research Lab

Binh leads AISIA Research Lab at Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Sciences — one of the most active applied AI research groups in Vietnam, with publications in international venues including AAAI and KSE. He has spent his career turning AI research into working systems. At MiiN Labs, he ensures that what the lab publishes is rigorous, and what it builds is grounded in science.

Together, Hien and Binh bring MiiN Labs something rare for an independent lab anywhere in the region: two Associate Professors from the VNU-HCM system working full-time on the same research agenda.

PT

Dr. Phạm Thị Vương

Co-Head, AI Practice

Lecturer, Saigon University

Vuong has spent her career at the intersection of AI and education — teaching, mentoring, and designing programs that help people actually apply what they learn. As a lecturer at Saigon University and a mentor at Vietnam Datathon, she is deeply connected to the student and early-career community across Southern Vietnam. She leads MiiN Labs’ training programs with one guiding principle: that AI education only works when it is connected to practice.

TS

Dr. Trần Sơn Hải

Co-Head, AI Practice

Lecturer, HCMUP

Son Hai has spent his career on the problem most AI programs ignore — what happens after the model is built. His work spans AI applied to healthcare systems, ERP, and enterprise information systems, and he has consulted on software development for organizations that needed AI to work in production, not just in a notebook. He brings that perspective to every training program and every challenge evaluation MiiN Labs runs.

LH

MSc. Lê Hoàng Việt Tuấn

Head, Open Arena

Head of Data Science, SBS

Viet Tuan co-organized Vietnam Datathon DataStorm — the largest data science competition in Southern Vietnam. He designed the problem statements, curated the datasets, briefed the judges, and synthesized the results. He knows what separates a challenge that produces noise from one that produces output an organization can act on. At MiiN Labs, he leads Open Arena with that experience as the foundation.
